✔️ Rosé gems from France and Santa Ynez
✔️ Spanish white that’s perfect…
✔️ Fun, fun barbera from Washington
✔️ Nelle Maniacal new vintage!

La Selve Mague Lonne Rosé 2019 – ($15)
Lovely, crisp, organic rosé in a lightweight, Provencal style. If you like wines like Miraval or Whispering Angel, buy this for 30% less and crush it poolside with confidence.

Dragonette Santa Ynez Rosé 2020 – ($26)
Hands down one of my favorite rosés of the year. Not your ultralight, Provencal style quaffer, this is ripe and fleshy with strawberry and orange zest and fabulous length for rosé. Can totally star on the dinner table, too. On the pricey side for rosé, but worth it.

Maruxa Godello 2019 – ($18)
Ohh so delightful Spanish crisper that overdelivers. Must try. Dry and bright with fresh pear and a delectable, ever-so-slight creaminess from 3 months on its lees. S92JS, 92RP

Casasmith Barbera 2018 – ($19)
Barbera (and pizza) fans! Another fascinating Washington wine from Charles Smith up in Washington. This is SO barbera and yet SO NOT from Italy. Outrageously tart and fun with cran-cherry redness, and still supply textured in that barbera sort of way. But totally without Piemonte’s herbal, earthy undertones, making for a really fun example of new world barbera! 92JS

Nelle “Maniacal” 2018 – ($42)
You guys still ask me for this GSM, which Nelle took off the market for one vintage. And, as I predicted in that video, the price went way up ($48 retail)! They started sourcing even better grapes to make this a flagship cuvee. Still has the mouth-coating layers of decadent fruit, toffee and a sort of Mexican chocolate mocha. But this time with more freshness and focus. It’s less viscous and syrupy than the original, with brighter fruit and leaner structure. If you loved the original, try this upgraded version!
