Paitin Elisa Arneis 2017 – $17
Stupid good. I tasted this wine knowing our price and instantly got goosebumps. It’s just that well made. Super dry and sharp in the classic Italian style with orange zest that meets mouth-crushing minerality. High-pitched, PERSISTENT acidity that sings DEEP into the finish. Virtually every white wine with zippy acid falls off eventually in the sip. The best never do. 3, 5, 10 seconds later their mouth-watering tartness persists. There’s a salinity to this wine, too. Maybe it’s the ancient, calcified seabed of the Roero soils. Or maybe it’s in my head. But there’s a mouth-puckering brininess in this. Anyway, for $17 this is just a phenomenal arneis!

Pahlmeyer Merlot 2015 (1.5L) – $155
(Compare at $199+) Yes! Look at that magnum! This is just the best merlot in California, in my opinion. And here you get double the juice! I only have a few of these to sell at this price, so grab it if it’s here. Plush, full-bodied and opulent, with lush blackberries, mocha, black pepper and even a touch of old-world je-ne-sais-quoi… You could cellar this for another 20 years or crack it open now for a special occasion showstopper!!
